Greetings! This isn't much of a website, but from time to time, I'll post PDF character sheets of the heroes and villains that appear in our Mutants & Masterminds campaign as well as photos of the models I've converted and painted for our games (or other hero models in general). Click on a photo below to download the character's sheet (these files average around 250-300k). Note that not all of the photos link to stats. Below are accounts of the games as well as other M&M related stuff.

Issue 0: (Written by me) Telik and Ryoku respond to news reports that a winged man is attacking holiday shoppers at a local mall. The assailant turns out to be Aviatar and true to the comics, the heroes battle it out for a few rounds until they sort out what's really going on. The aforementioned Ogre was among the shoppers (we never did determine why...) and disguised with an illusion projector. Aviatar was attempting to thwart the villain when the other heroes showed up. Anyway, after it was sorted out, the three good guys pursued Ogre into the mall where he had taken a hostage ("One step closer and the girl is minus an arm!"). |
Ryoku used a groundstrike attack to throw ogre off balance and the villain lost his grip on the girl. Telik snatched her away with his power and Aviatar launched into Ogre. It was a short fight after that but involving lots of property damage (it's fun to battle it out in locations you are familiar with in real life). Later, the three heroes confronted a being called Fracter who was summoned by cultists to.... well, we don't know yet, but it ain't good. It looked grim for a while, but the heroes managed to get the best of Fracter who bemoaned his "weakened state" after his summoning (weakened? We are gonna be in trouble when he's "strong"), and disapated into pure energy and escaped. |

Issue 1: An alert over the local news station finds our heroes the Legion taking things easy at they're temporary HQ. Telik was monitoring the local channels and scrambled the team into their modified fight vechile. Soon the heroes blast off to the Monitor-Merrimac bridge in Hampton Roads where a large oil tanker has contacted with the million dollar bridge. The inital assessment indicates several problems. There are cars in danger of falling, the bridge looks like it could go at any time, some random power cables dance furiously above the ruptured oil tanker and it's spilling cargo of volitile fuel. Most of the team possesses movement capabilities like the speedster Stryker and the winged Aviatar, but Ryoku the huge warrior requires Telik's powers to reach the bridge. Good thing our vechile has an auto-pilot or we'd be wasting valueable time parking the jet. Aviatar flies to pick up a car that's falling. Stryker makes good use of his speed moving injured people of the bridge. Ambulances have arrived but they're not allowed on the bridge because of it's apparent structural integrity, we all thought it could go at any second. But wait, thanks to a little extra effort on Ryoku's part he's helping to support the bridge with his super-strength and large size. Telik is able to rescue a couple of cars, before turning his attention to the freely spilling oil. Telik is able to extend his forcefield ability to create a shield over the opening of the hole in the tanker. It's too much pressure but he's able to hold it temporially. The captain of the ship is able to restart the engines, and he backs the disabled ship away from the bridge. Ryoku strains but everything up top is okay. Stryker found a power box to shut the current of to the high voltage lines, Aviatar accidentally dropped an unoccupied car into the water. The Coast Guard arrived. The media prepared to ask a few questions of the area's newest heroes. The questions were diverted by Telik as the team loaded up into their jet and flew away. Much to the shock of everyone involved. So anyway after we got back to our temporary HQ, the team leader, me, got a royal chew-out by our backer and financial leader Mr. Faust. He has in no uncertain terms suggested that as members of the Legion, especially as leader of the group, we should keep a open dialouge with the press core. As a new team in the area, as his team in the area the little encounters with members of the media should be handled with full cooperation on our part. That being said the members of the team are all supposed appear the following day at the opening of the newly errected Hall of Legionniares. It's going to serve as our headquarters. And it will be opening tomorrow for the first time in a massive press conference that will include a question and answer section to introduce all the members of the Legion. The next morning came early enough and all being assembled, Mr. Faust introduced the Legion to Hampton Roads and the rest of the world. The Q∓A that followed was a farce but we answered the questions regardless of how pointless. If I remember right some reporter asked Ryoku, "So what do you think of the East Coast?" There were a lot of questions like that. The best question the reporters asked went unanswered. See I'm a former member of a team called the Sentinels, the situation where I left the team was never made public. It's been probably 10 years since Telik has even donned a costume. I've been underground with my family where I thought I was safe. Or at least forgotten. Then comes Mr. Faust. He's building a team of superheroes. He offers the leadership position to me and well if Mr. Faust can find me... it does sound like a good opportunity to do some good. It's an opportunity to do things my way. |
So anyway the hero business taken care of we explore the new facility. It's pretty much comic book heaven, but that's why we play. After a brief visit via the com with members of the Guardians, everybody was settled in when we recieved a call from a member of the Meta-response division of the Virginia Police. A group of super-villians known as the Lynch Mob are breaking into a musuem less than a mile from our new HQ. I guess they didn't see the press conference. Let me tell you about the Lynch Mob. They're a bruiser style team with a lot of attitude and very little up-stairs. The four man wrecking crew consists of Granite, their leader, a large size strongman with regeneration abilities. The fast slasher Feral and Ember, an elemental with fire powers, round out the group power wise. Then there's my personal favorite, you saw him in episode zero, the absolutely perfectly named Ogre. He's a dim bulb if there ever was one. These criminals are exiting the Chrysler Museum with loot in tow as we start part three. Ember has yet to make it out of the building when the first member of the Legion gets their attention. Clad in yellow and blue armor the appearence of Stryker momentarily halts the bunch as he says something like, "Hold it right there." The brick Granite didn't appear to be impressed until the speedster nailed him with a solid mach one punch and was out of range in an instant. There was some solid trash talking but the Mob was kind of at a loss. Telik arrived a moment later flying in and taking a shot at Ogre, my favorite target always. Granite chunks a car at Telik, but it's deflected. Feral closes on Stryker and the two battle furiously for several rounds. Styker's got the edge on speed, but Feral's more experienced. A "BANZAI!" was the last thing Ogre heard as Ryoku enters the battle with a death from above leap that rammed the poor villian straight through the street. Aviatar and Ember fight a short battle with the winged warrior Aviatar clearly outclassing the firery flyer. Granite kept hurling things at Telik, Stryker eventually got tired of missing Feral and scored a few hits on the big guy Granite, enraging the leader of the Lynch Mob who was trying to go toe to toe with our favorite ronin, Ryoku. An attack by Aviatar landed Feral in la la land for a while thanks to some help by Stryker, that kid was everywhere. Granite was getting surrounded so he made a super leap at Telik, still unscathed thanks to a little hero's luck, and things looked as if they were winding down when the appearence of a mysterious woman and the extra-dimensional alien Fracter changed the sides. Now here's when being experienced with all this stuff really paid off. I'm thinking that Fracter took on the entire team by himself in issue zero, and the fact that he had no connection what so ever with the story. Add the mysterious woman and I'm thinking illusion. Telik placed his attack at Granite, I know he's for real. He's been throwing things at me all day. I hit him but it's pretty ineffective against his armor. The woman winds up taking the artifact they stole from the museum and teleporting out. Ryoku swings right through the illusion of Fracter. Should have listened to me. So were left with an unconscious Ogre, I think he got smashed by Ryoku with a dumpster when he was recovering, and Granite and Ember with his second wind. The big face off scene. The woman left the goons to escape on their own. Aviatar, Telik, and Ryoku never expected what happened next... Stryker hits a sonic boom and dazes the last two villians. Aviatar wraps them in a light pole to hold the just long enough for the boys in blue to slap the power draining restraints on the last of the criminals. Feral vanished during the later part of the fight, and Ogre only lasted for one "BANZAI!", tough break. |

Issue Two: The day started with a visit from Mr. Faust, our backer. He outlined more specifically exactly what our role as members of the Legion entails. Mr. Faust wants to bring the community together by our example. We are to be responsible for dealing with all meta-human threats both locally and abroad. As the leader of the team most of the problems Mr. Faust is having with the group falls on my shoulders. The team hadn't really done much to follow up on the museum heist last issue, and Mr. Faust was disappointed. Anyway we begin to track down leads by consulting with law enforcement and the curator at the Chrysler Museum. What we found was disturbing and actually down right weird. The artifact that was stolen is part of an ancient puzzle. It supposedly has the power to open some kind of portal to another dimension, which will undoubtably bring chaos to this world. Three of the five pieces were at one point museum exhibits. Two have been recently stolen, ours from Virginia and the other in Berkley, California. The final known piece is in Edinburgh, Scotland. Before we could pile into the Tele-jet, and make our way to the U.K., a call from C.H.E.S.S. comes over the com. |
A huge construct known as Monolith is currently engaged in a battle of epic proportions with a woman-warrior known as Amazon outside of Phoenix, Az. It's important we help out so with a slight change of plans we fly west at speeds faster than sound. The fight was a good one but with the sheer numbers of the Legion and some crucial attacks we successfully take down the giant alien robot( which looked surprisingly like a Sentinel from the Hero-clik game). The warrior-woman Amazon was grateful for our help, but spurned an opportunity to join the group. Phoenix saved and time winding down we retired to the HQ only to have a surprise visitor. A female archer known as Trickshot came calling to The Hall of Legionneirs. She was having trouble with a villian called Fracter( see issue Zero) and knew we successfully defeated him once before. We shared all the mutual information we had. After finding out Trickshot might be interested in working with us, we enlisted her aid in the mission to Scotland to stop an inevitable robbery. So next week stay tuned true-believers cause it's gonna be live from the U.K. and the Legion is ready to rock. |
|
Issue Three: Issue three begins with a growing problem of the Chaos puzzle, an artifact that could open the door to another dimension. It made a brief apperance back in Issue one when the mage Helter Skelter hired the Lynch Mob to break into the Chrysler museum in Norfolk, VA. We failed to stop her at that point and only recently realised the gravity of the situation. The only other known piece of the puzzle is on display in Edinburgh, Scotland. When we join our heroes they've been summoned by their benefactor Mr. Faust. He meets them and introduces them to a local storm chaser Sage McGregor, AKA Jolt. Mr. Faust announces this hero as the newest addition to the Legion. Jolt is pretty amazed with the group. The size of Ryoku, the odd appearence of the alien Aviatar, the beauty of Trickshot, the youth of Stryker, and Telik's aversion to owning up to an actual alter ego seemed to entrance the hero Jolt and provided some necessary role-playing. Pretty soon it was everybody into the Tele-jet (editor - the Tele-jet?), and off to the U.K. hopefully we can foil Helter Skelter's attempt to possess the final piece of the Chaos puzzle. Once we arrived in Scotland we developed the following plan. The piece of the puzzle would be replaced by a fake, and we'd surround the display. Aviatar would take to the sky to monitor the perimeter. Jolt elected to go with Trickshot up on the roof, because the building had a pronounced skylight. Young Stryker was in an access corridor behind the display. Ryoku had the best disguise, he was draped with a sheet and portrayed a huge unveiled statue. Myself, I monitored the situation from the security station in the museum. Just down the hall from the display. We didn't have to wait long before Aviatar's inhuman senses picked up an invisible jet landing in front of the building. The plan flowed nicely from there. After the fiends entered the building Aviatar disabled their ship. Trickshot and Jolt opened fire as soon as Dark Force, as they are called, made their way into the display area. She wasted the one called Throtle before he ever got to display his powers. He was out of action before the second round with three arrows sticking through him. Ryoku struck the ground and sprawled half the villians to the floor. He followed up by knocking the elastic Dough-boy out of the immediate fight, where I encountered him and we were tied up for most of the encounter. The battle continued on at this pace until Darkmatter, the leader, used his darkness abilty to shut out the lights. It did little to hinder Ryoku's battle with the Monster(as in Dr. Frankenstien). Jolt and Stryker were likewise unaffected thanks to dark vision but unsucessfully tried to stop Darkmatter from stealing the puzzle. It was about this time Aviatar came blasting in battling everything in his path, as he often does. |
He caught the fleeing master of darkness as he cleared the building by throwing "Mourn", his mace, and Darkmatter half fell, half floated to the ground. Jolt really lit up Doughboy preventing him from escaping, and the Monster was summarily beaten into submission. Before we headed home, Dr. Montgomery of the institute suggested we carry the piece of the Chaos puzzle back to the states with us under our protection. We whole heartedly agreed and promised to return it when this is all over. The good doctor also suggested something about the fact that these items sometimes need a proper nexus to function. A spatial and temporal union, if you believe in that sort of thing. Well we hadn't been back five minutes before I was on the line with the Sentinels co-leader Ultraman. He had a little more information about the Chaos puzzle and some other happenings of late. It seems a rival cult was trying to summon their own Chaos lord by sacrificing people or something. It's getting a bit messy with all these cultists running around between Helter Skelter and the Fracterites, we've seen our share. And now we hear tell of the Sentinels battling the same kinds of foes. Well, we'd all settled in to the HQ. Jolt had already taken Stryker and Aviatar to the local Dairy Queen, and Ryoku had settled into the hot tub, when the final unsettling event took place. A huge explosion shook the HQ and alarms went off everywhere. Stryker rushes to his battlesuit via skateboard, the rest of us plowed downstairs including a still soaking wet Ryoku. Standing before us was the self titled 'most dangerous man on the planet' Count Nekros. The fight for the Chaos puzzle was on with the exact guy that shouldn't have it. Count Nekros resembles in some ways the ultra-powerful owner of some western European countries in everything but the armor. For the sake of space the battle went fairly well. What we didn't have in sheer power, we made up for in numbers and tenacity. I really think we could have beaten him eventhough I looked like a pin cushion thanks to a mind controlled Trickshot who also owns surprise strike(yikes, flatfooted). The battle came to a schreeching halt in this fashion: Count Nekros has been knocked into the water (editor - by Ryoku!). Jolt is preparing to pour on the juice when he notices a young girl with her feet in the water. Not really close to the fight but voltage and water, well he holds up and the good count begins to talk instead of attack. He declares us worthy for the task at hand. Count Nekros doesn't want an extradimensional gate opened up any more than we do, and he's got information on the nexus... Next week, THE GREAT DISMAL SWAMP |
|
Issue Four: The battle that begins this session takes place at Creed's airfield in Virginia Beach. The sides are clearly drawn between our heroes the Legion, finally with a whopping six members, and a host of Fracterite goons led by a meta named Octoss. Stryker and Jolt act first wiping out a goon with a laser cannon. Ryoku rams into the leader, while the rest of the team concentrates on reducing the number of opponents we face. The battle is pretty one-sided by super hero standards, and we're able to sucessfully pound the forces of Fracter. Sure Octoss threatens that their boss will settle the score, but spirits are high as we hand him over to authorities and return to our HQ. Once back at The Hall of Legionniares, we're met by a peculiar sort of fellow. He's dressed in a long coat and sits in Ryoku's chair puffing on a cigarette. Not a good first impression. He claims to have information about Helter Skelter and the nexus we seek. I'm not sure how everybody seems to have an inside scoop on what we're doing, but it is after all role-playing. |
Anyway this guy's name is Dark Raven and he claims to be a witch or something. He can, however, take us to Helter Skelter and that's what's important. I think most of the team was ready to beat him senseless, but Telik imposed a degree of civility and thanked him for his help. What followed can only be descibed as the big the fight to end the first major story arch. We battled Helter Skelter, daemons, and even our old buddy Feral showed up at just the wrong time. He caught young Styrker flat-footed and took him out with one hit. Most of the team poured the heat on Helter Skelter and she was staggered, but not down... I had no idea she was that powerful. Aviatar in true Aviatar fashion sucessfully defeated Feral. Helter Skelter was finally taken out by a combined energy blast fired by the electric Jolt and everyone's favorite Headcase, yours truly. So the world is saved from the daemons of Chaos, we collected our injured, imprisoned the villians, and returned home once more with nobody any closer to hooking up with Trickshot than when we started. So stay tuned folks! I'll keep posting them until I'm forced to stop. |
|
Issue Five: (Written by Tom Grimsley, AKA Aviatar) This issue started out with a training mission in Suffolk, VA. Telik wanted the group to start working on tactics - so far the group has just been charging in without much thought as to how to best deal with the opposition. Today's training involved Telik and the speedster Stryker vs Aviatar and Ryoku! The training started out with Stryker getting off the first attack and stunning Avaitar with a blinding move-by attack. As the battle progressd it looked like Telik and Stryrker would triumph. However it was Aviatar and Ryoku who took the most advantage in team work and managed to come out on top by flanking Stryker, and a lucky blow from Aviatar took out Telik. After the mock battle the heros returned to the Hall of Legionnairs and met with Jolt, and Dark Raven. Dark Raven is a Sorcerer that helped the hero's out last issue in tracking down Helter Skelter. At the moment he is thinking about joining the legion, but has yet to make a commitment. The heroes are sitting around discussing what's been going on lately, when BAM! the power goes out. It doesn't take long before the heroes discover that its just not their HQ, but all of Hampton Roads! Telik discover there is a stange energy source coming from the Faust Building in Virginia Beach. Our own backer's building is somehow involved in this. "To the Tele-Jet!" screams Telik ( after asking Aviatar not to fly through the glass ceiling again) and we head to the Faust Tower! A lone figure is seen on the roof of the 13 story building and we land in the constuction sight next to Pembroke Mall. We all head to the roof of the building, Stryker's the first to get there but is surpised by several small arrows flying at him...explosive arrows! |
He gets hit but manages to get to the roof using his wall run. On the roof he sees a beautiful woman wielding two pistol crossbows - Sagittarius. Also on the roof is Gemini, and Pisces! Oh my god, it's the Zodiac! The rest of us get up to the top of the building. Gemini seems distracted by the machinery he's got on the roof. Sagittarius takes two shots at Aviatar whos hovering above the building. the first shot blinds him with a dazzel attack while the next just knocks him back a bit. But he's removed from the fight for now. Jolt and Stryker attack Sagittarius but she's a nimble little minx and avoids both attacks. Then Pisces takes over Ryoku's mind and forces him to attack Telik, who manages to deflect the attack. Then out of the blue Scorpio materializes and attacks Dark Raven and stuns him. Telik's had enough and grabs Pisces with his TK powers and simply drops her off a 13 story building (might have lost his karma in old MSH) effectivly freeing Ryoku. Then Leo leaps out the shadows and slashes at Stryker who manages to survive the assault, but flees from his attacker. The battle raged on until Telik blasted the machinery and managed to damage it. Gemini grabbed what ever was housing the energy he was drawing and teleported away, telling Leo to "Finish off this rabble and meet me at the rendezvous." The hero's now out numbered thier opponents and took out the Leo, Scorpio, and Sagittarius. But were left with the burning question, What is Gemini going to use the power for and where is the rest of the Zodiac?! Editor's note - Scorpio got away and there was no sign of Pisces after the battle. Leo and Sagittarius were taken into custody. Next week - Part II! |

Issue Six: (Written by Tom Grimsley, AKA Aviatar) I am Aviatar from the crimefighting group known as the Legion. My tutor has asked me to write down our exploits to better help me understand the Runes that represent your language. Please bear with me as I might struggle some in my spelling and grammer. The day started out at our headquarters with Telik, our leader, going over battle tactics. While I believe we need to discuss such matters, I do not agree with all his suggestions. Being a warrior born, I frown upon honorless tactics, such as sriking a foe when he is unprepared. However my new friends tell this world is much different then my own, and our adversaries have no honor. Sometimes we must take advantage of every aspect of the battle. I voiced my objections and felt my comrades respected my misgivings. Notheless the group all agreed that we would use these tactics as needed. Then Telik asked if anyone had any thoughts on Gemini's motives. I am unfamilier with your world's science so I listened with great interest. Jolt believed he could track the energy Gemini stole with a device he called Doppler. He said sometimes he uses it to track storms and thought it could be modified to find Gemini. He, Stryker, and Telik went to see to this while I went on patrol. Ryuko stayed at the base in case any emergencies arose. I enjoy patroling more then any other task that is given to me. It gives me an opprotunity to see this beautiful city and feel the wind in my face. As I flew over the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel I noticed a truck nearly hitting a car on the bridge; the car crashed through the railings and fell towards the water. I swooped down and caught the vehicle and saved the life of the women inside. She seemed grateful and after I made sure she was safe I headed back to the HQ. When I arrived, Jolt and the others had returned as well. We had only to wait for the information to be transfered to us. When it came through we learned that Gemini was located in the small town of Moyock in North Carolina. |
We all climbed into the Tele-jet and flew to Moyock. We found an old structure that was giving off the energy readings and landed to investigate. As soon as we approached the barn, yet another Zodiac villian known as Cancer attacked. Telik order the manuver called "Overlord" signaling all of us to attack Cancer. Stryker charged first, quickly followed by Jolt. Both attacks did little or no damage to the robot. Ryoku charged in and landed a blow on Cancer and it still stood! A mighty robot it must be indeed! I landed behind Cancer so that I might flank him, but I failed to land a blow. Then I felt a searing pain on my back and was momentarily stunned. Gemini had cowardly struck me from behind with an energy blast! No honor at all! Telik flew past Cancer to confront Gemini. Gemini spoke of how we were too late and grab something he called the Star Gauntlet. He placed it on his hand and blasted Styker, who just dodged out of the way. Then Scorpio appeared and tried to take out Telik but his force field held. Telik used his TK powers to rip the gauntlet from Gemini's hand. Ryoku dealt a deadly blow to Scorpio who could not withstand the giant's might. I charged Gemini but his force field proved to be too powerful. Eventually Jolt got through his force field and Gemini split into two beings! A foe worthy of my true power, which I unleashed on him. I managed to get through the force field but only wounded him slightly. Ryoku and Jolt concentrated on Cancer while Telik, Stryker, and myself continued to attack Gemini. Cancer could take no more as Ryoku and Jolt disabled him. Finally Gemini realized he wasn't getting the Star Gauntlet back and teleported away, leaving us victorious. We put Cancer and Scorpio in custody and took thr Gauntlet back to be studied. All in all, we fought well together as a team and I feel we are getting better with each engagement! I am equally sure that we have not seen the last of the Zodiac. |
|
Issue Seven: As the leader of the Legion, I'll try to give a brief account of our adventure last week. The team fully assembled includes now seven members with Trickshot and Dark Raven, our sorcerer. Old favorites like Stryker, Aviatar, Jolt, and myself work in the Hampton Roads area for wealthy benefactor Mister Faust. Our heroes fresh from an encounter with the Zodiac are hanging out a The Hall of Legionnaires when local authrorities give them a call. Local armored car services have been robbed three times in the last two weeks. At least they think they've been robbed. The armored cars have vanished along with the crew in mid-route. The global positioning systems on the trucks seem to have been disabled or just aren't working. The team has a thoughtful discussion and decides we'll split up and borrow some armored cars. We'll provide bait for the evil-doers and overwhelm the villians if possibles. On our first day on patrol nothing significant happens, but the second day... Aviatar flies high above the armored truck carring Jolt and Trickshot. He didn't even see it coming before it was too late. A huge monstrous form crashed into the armored car. It crushed the steel like it was paper. Everything happened so fast. Trickshot bailed out of the passenger side of the vechile while Jolt teleported behind the creature. They were facing Heathen. A creature as old as time. A primal force as powerful as nature itself. Jolt opened fire with his electrical powers, and the noble Aviatar charged into the battle. Trickshot was a little shaken up, but fired arrows into combat with little effect. The battle was ended quickly. Heathen got a hold on Aviatar and proceeded to beat Jolt unconcious with the bird-man. There wasn't too much Trickshot could do but watch as the monster picked up the armored car and leapt far off the road into the woods with a superleap. By the time the rest of the team showed up, Trickshot was caring for the disabled characters. We quickly patched up Jolt and Aviatar thanks to the healing powers of Dark Raven's magic, and a plan was made to head off in the direction Heathen went. We knew we were far behind him, but a creature that big should leave a nice trail to follow. Aviatar was ranting about the strength and speed of Heathen, but he wouldn't catch us unprepared again. Soon we stumbled across the armored car. A couple of really weird clues confused us at first. The first thing we discovered was the GPS device had been technically disabled. This left us to believe that Heathen wasn't working alone. Someone noticed the tracks around the area. There were Heathen sized prints of course and lots of little tiny tracks. Little tiny boot prints. And a boat, these gremlins or gnomes or smurfs had came by water. Very strange indeed. We picked up the damaged truck and turned it over to our contacts with the law enforcements. Maybe they could find a clue we missed. The rest of the team headed back to the Hall, where we tried to piece things together. |
Our contacts in the police department paid off. They were able to detect small traces of coal. The largest coal in Hampton Roads seemed like the best place to start. We piled the team into the Tele-jet, and off we go. When we landed some of the dock workers gave us some strange looks while we investigated the area. The big breakthrough came when we crossed through the fence, via Ryoku, and discovered a beat up shack under an over pass. The team fanned out with Dark Raven turning invisible to get a closer look. Everyone else waited to see if this was our villans or simply some bum under the bridge. Dark Raven had just enough time to see the money bags and hear the insane mastermind behind the schemes when he was set upon by marionettes, toy soldiers of the nefarious Gepetto. When we heard Dark Raven's cry of surprise we unleashed the fury of the Legion on the shack. Standing in the door way was the creature Heathen. The majority of the team pounded on the big guy with Stryker primarily taking out the horde of marionettes that were popping up everywhere. Dark Raven successfully stunned Heathen with Paralysis attack, but it didn't last long. The battle continued equally with both sides taking hits. Most of the marionettes were dispatched and Aviatar was down again. His noble countence did very little to impress the beast Heathen. When Ryoku took a hit and went down, things didn't look good. On advice from Dark Raven, I used my psychic awareness to locate Gepetto. Three of us concetrated attacks on him, Dark Raven, Jolt and myself. The little fellow looked almost helpless when I snatched his guns away from him, but do not be decieved. Before I knew what had happened he released his control of Heathen, who actually continued to fight us because Stryker and Trickshot kept at him, and took over my mind instead. Jolt was clinging to the bottom of the over pass and firing electrical bolts down at Gepetto when I K.O.'d him with a telekinetic bolt. Most of his defense only applies when he's aware of the attack, so blind-sided he was pretty much helpless. He fell in a heap on to the ground. Dark Raven healed Ryoku and Aviatar, Gepetto fled when I got control of my mind again, only to run smack dab into a force-shape wall created by a very angry leader of the Legion. So far as Heathen, well he wasn't feeling so good. Stryker was mach-one punching the beast with his furious speed. Heathen couldn't get a hit in on him, and he was a little confused. He wound up running to fight another day, and saving his own ass from a pair of monster-sized restraints. We let him go being pretty beat up ourselves, and after all he was being mind-controlled by Gepetto. Heathen doesn't usually steal things, especially money. The team did a very good job working together, so we decided to take a week off for some time off. Next Week: LOST IN SPACE |

Issue Eight: This week our heroes braved the rigors of space. A communications satellite belong to our benefactor, Mr. Faust, had it's security comprimised, and our heroes at the request of our boss headed in short order skyward. During the initial briefing a member of the U.S. government asked the team to bring back the intruder alive for questioning. After our tech-guy modified the Tele-jet for space travel, five members of the Legion headed off to boldly go where..(I couldn't help it) where no one has gone before. The lift-off and docking procedures were all taken care of by an on-board computer and we set out to explore the satellite. Our first impression of the "communications" satellite told us everything was not exactly on the up and up with our briefing. This was more like an operatable space station and no amount communications gear required an installation like this. The next few moments involved locating the intruder and a short but decisive encounter resulted in the alien's surrender. The blue-skinned psionic quickly learned our language through a mind link with myself. He was an arcturan, a space-faring race whose home world was conquered by another warlike race of humanoids-The Ogg Re. It seems that the aliens have a cell operating on Earth, and this arcturan came to warn us of an Invasion of our planet. The arcturan's ship possessed sensors capable of detecting the humanoids. We established their position in the city of Miami. Our original mission now changed, we accepted the alien's word as truth, and decided to help him in his endevour. The course for home was plotted into the ship's computer. We blasted home with the arcturan's ship shadowing the Tele-jet. |
Down in Miami we stroll straight into what appears to be a huge warehouse. Talos, the arcturan, tells us the aliens are under the structure. What we find inside stunned the whole team. Human scientist working on high-tech equipment scattered throughout the builing. We were accosted by one of these men, but pressed onward to a large freight elevator. Security forces were brushed aside. Once in the lower levels it was clear the alarm had already been sounded below. The Ogg Re were waiting for us. We smashed into an ambush with true Legion style. Jolt released an area attack that sent many of the smaller creatures flying. We faced off with two different yet very similar types of creatures. The little ones were pretty fast but not particularly resilient. The big ones were real tough. They all carried powerful blasters, some had grenades, and the leader had a wicked power-claw. The battle was hard fought. A few of the team went down in melee and under the barrage of blaster fire. Once all was said and done however, the day was ours we defeated the cell. In the post-battle session, it was Ryoku who first went up the elevator. The scientists had quickly disappeared. The monitors all displayed a countdown,..3:12...3:11..3:10! Needless to say, we picked up the injured( I love TK) and escaped the building before...KA-BOOM!! The warehouse, the aliens, the experiments all went up with a bang. A few hours later we discussed the fate of Talos. Our boss, Mr. Faust, offered to take over his protection at an undisclosed location. He really didn't appear too surprised about the invasion plans, but then again he's usually pretty calm and collected. If we had only had more time in the satellite, we may have learned a little more about the mysterious Mr. Faust. Just before the session ended, the alert sounded. A huge consturct was laying waste to Miami. Apparently the Ogg Re threat wasn't over. NEXT WEEK: THE THRILLING CONCLUSION |

Issue Nine: This issue begins with the team clustered around the control monitors. A huge battle robot is trashing Miami's finest. While not an offical hot spot for meta human activity nearly every large city has a few of it's own heroes. The solo-kid Rocket Racer, strongman Brick (think the Thing), and a vigilante named Quicksand who walks the line between good and evil were pouring on the heat to this warriorbot. To little effect though. The robot was trashing the city. It looked ugly from the news reports. Time for the big guns to get into the scrap. We actually felt a little responsible for the carnage. The robot was part of an alien attack force (last issue), and the Legion had some how forgot to search the area for other invaders. I mean it's pretty big, seems like somebody would have noticed a giant robot. The base where we fought the Ogg Re (aliens-look an awful lot like Space Orks) self destructed and our heroes chalked it up as another victory for the good guys. Now this. Everyone piles into the Tele-jet, Jolt is working the controls. Telik (that's me) operates as co-pilot. Ryoku the man-mountian provides most of the weight the thrusters have to deal with, while the teenage hero Stryker chats with the sorcerer Dark Raven. Lastly Aviatar, a winged warrior from another dimension, sits broodingly along for the ride. Poor Aviatar has taken a beating these last few weeks since the first time we fought Heathen. When we arrived in Miami for the second time in twenty four hours, things for the locals had taken a turn for the worse. The space dreadnought had waylayed the three heroes and wrecked a lot of the area. It was currently being opposed by two members of the Guardians, Chance and Biollante. Now I have a problem with this Chance character, but there's no time for that now. He's shooting his signature pistols at the robot. Pistols,..? And his pal Biollante is using her plant control powers to little effect. |
We hit the machine gang-busters style. Everyone with ranged attacks firing first before our strong guys start to take the thing apart. There's a lot of collateral damage and pedestrians in the way, but most of that is handled admirably. With powers like telekinesis, superspeed, teleport, and healing we've got most of the bases covered. Before long we've got the site under control and everybody is bashing the dreadnought to bits. Aviatar deals one blow of many to bring the machine to the ground. Our boss Mr. Faust calls us when everything is over. He tells us to deal with the media, and hurry back. He apparently has problems of his own. So with the cameras on we do a little posturing for the local television crews. Another crisis avoided thanks to the Legion. The end of this issue involves some necessay role-playing between members and some leg-work by the PC's involving the whole upcoming alien invasion. The arcturan who provided this information is missing, and at long last Mr. Faust orders us not to find him. This is a big let down as players. We know there's a lot of crazy stuff going on behind the scenes, and our GM isn't ready to resolve this thread. I could go on and on, but as a player who has nothing but respect for all the work that goes into each session I'll leave it at that. This issues ends with all the characters back at the Hall of Legionnaires. Some angry feelings with our benefactor are stuffed behind the masks, and hopefully everything will work out in the future. Trickshot's back so there are a few smiles lingering, and the heroes the Legion are ready for the next big event. Next week- THE LEGION LOSES ONE OF IT'S OWN |

Issue Ten:(Written by Tom Grimsley, AKA Aviatar) The issue starts off with Mr Faust letting us know we would be attending a black tie event here in Hampton Roads. It was a charity event for one the local children Hospitals and at a thousand bucks a plate, it could help alot. We had recently recieved news that Jolt was going to reserve status, so we promoted Dark Raven to an active member. We all had to be fitted for our monkey suits and this was quite a challenge for the tailors. Ryoku is huge then of course there were Aviatar's wings. Oh dear! said one the tailors, upon seeing Ryoku, We are going to need more fabric! At this point everyone on the team seems to be getting along well and Telik has stepped and become a good leader. Avaitar enjoys the company of Ryoku the most, noting his honorable heart. There was even a romance budding between Jolt and Trickshot. Dark Raven has become less surly and might have his own plans for Trickshot now that Jolt is out of the picture. And Stryker has been doing well in his studies and keeps everyone on thier toes with his odd sense of humor. At times though, its apperent he misses his mother. The next evening comes and the tuxes all fit and everyone looks great in particular, Trickshot in here evening gown. We all had beautiful escorts to accompany us to the dinner. Aviatar was so taken with his he picked her up and flew her to the event. Of cousre this wrinkled his tux in the worst way. Though he was the first to arrive he looked like he'd been gropping with the escort in the back seat of a compact car. The others arrived and thankfully took the cameras off Aviatar. Once everyone got settled in Ryoku made a b-line for the buffet table. Telik handled the socializing like a pro. Dark Raven had one his Wicken chicks all decked out in less then Jay-lo. He seemed to be enjoying the uneasey glances that came their way. Stryker was persued by a agent that wanted to represent him in a deal with Nike. The guy had a contract for him and wanted Styker to sign it right then and there. Styker said he let one of Mr. Faust lawyers look at it. The agent seemed dejected but did leave a copy of the contract with Stryker. Meanwhile Aviatar got cornered by a gropu of people wanting to ask questions about his homeland. Aviatar was not in the mood. After a while speakers came up and said a few words and our own Telik was introduced to a appreciative audience. His speech concentrated on how he felt Hampton Roads was finally coming together as one community and how proud that his group was part of that spirit. Just then the frieght elevator doors exploded, standing in the midst of the ruins were three armored men. The Triad, a group of armored muntant mercenaries created and led by the evil Dr. Zarros! |
They wasted no time and attack our heros. Fury struck first, attacking Aviatar with blinding speed. Aviatar was shock by Fury's speed and was unable to return the attack! Next Barrage opened up with his gauntlets on Ryoku but with little effect. But Metassault blasted Ryoku with a mind blast and dropped the big guy. Stryker tried to take on Fury with a move by attack but couldn't get through the armor. Aviatar regained his senses and got his powerful mace and axe and prepared for an all out assault. Telik and Dark Raven got up thier force fields, and Telik started barking orders Aviatar, Ryoku, Stryker concentrate on Fury leave Barrage and Metassault to Dark Raven and I. Ryoku was just recovering from Metassault's mind blast when he heard the order. Thus the three heroes concentrated thier efforts to bring down Fury. His armor was tough and even Ryoku's and Aviatar's blows were having trouble getting through. Meanwhile Metassault and Dark Raven were having a battle of wills and Raven was losing! Telik was having little trouble with Barrage's weapons but could not hurt him at all. Finally, the team work seem to be beating down Fury and Ryoku got in a massive blow that knocked the armored muntant out cold. Just then a new armored man came crashing through the window, arrayed in armor similar to thier foes, Telik thought for sure he was a new member of the Triad (editor... silly Telik, that would make them the Quatrad). However, the newcomer struck out at Barrage and told Telik that he and his team mates must strike together to get through the tough armor. Telik and Dark Raven did just that to Metassault and took him out. Barrage was soon brought down by teamwork as well. The new armored hero called himself Aegis and showed the Legion how to deactivate the armor. Barrage was questioned and said only that they had been hired by the Dragons Tong, a crime syndicate in Japan, to bring back Ryoku. Ryoku seemed disturbed by this and immediatly asked for a leave of abscense. "I thought I had taken care of this," he said. "It appears there is work yet to do." Telik offered to help but Ryoku said it was personal and refused any help. Aegis offered his help to the Legion, who all of the sudden only had four active members. Telik said he be glad to talk to Faust about the offer, but had little doubt he would agree. Just then the crowd started working their way back into the ball room and applauded the heros and Mr. Faust wasted lttle time in turning this into a media circus. He spoke of how proud he was that his idea for a superhero group in Hampton Roads has paid off so well. Next issue the attack of the Fractorites! |
|
Issue Eleven: It started out perhaps like any other day. The team was scattered over Hampton Roads taking care of individual business. Aegis and Trickshot were the only members of the Legion at the HQ. Aegis was working on things around the base with our resident tech guy Mr. Jenkins. He was the man who built Stryker's battlesuit. Aegis was interested in checking out the Tele-jet and the battle simulator (read Danger Room). Trickshot was working out in there, but the equipment isn't operating at 100%. Aviatar was on a long patrol. The winged warrior is a little upset that Ryoku has left the team. He felt a bond with Ryoku that is hard to ignore. Many battles found our two heavies pounded the villians senseless. Of all the members of the Legion, Aviatar admired the warrior code Ryoku followed. The birdman has taken to longer and longer flights away from the team. Stryker was dilligently studing at the library for his school work. He takes his education seriously although he doesn't relate well with the other students. Many times his classmates have invited him to hang out, but Stryker doesn't quite fit in with kids his age. He knows he's different from them and he actually prefers hanging out with his team mates. Jolt for one always includes the youngster in everything he does. Unfortunately he's had some personal issues and isn't active with the team this week. Telik has been really busy with the entire team thing. For once he's met with his friend Melissa Beber, a former legal assistant for the C.H.E.S.S. organization. She's a trial lawyer now, and has known Telik for years. They are enjoying a light meal at Waterside. Melissa has always been a little sweet on Telik, but wouldn't want to disrupt his on-again off-again marriage with his wife. Telik had his family removed from the spotlight years ago where they lived happily until Mr. Faust showed up at his door asking the former superhero to lead the Legion. Dark Raven waits very unpatiently with members of his coven at the Barnes and Nobles for a book signing. The writer of the Vampire Chronicles Anne Rice is visiting the local city to meet he fans and promote her new book Twilight, the biographical story of the vampire superhero. Like I said it started out like any other day. |
The book signing was going slow. Dark Raven crept slowly to the front of the line. The writer seemed paricularly long winded discussing her work with her fans. He was nearly to the front of the line when a huge semi exploded with action. The walls of the trailer dropped open and costumed freaks started opening fire on the crowds. Preaching redemption and burning a swath into the crowd with flame throwers. Lucky for everyone except the villians Dark Raven was on the scene. He quickly attacked the Redeemers with energy blasts and his mind control. Let's see how they like their own fire. They in turn concentrated on him and he stood his ground. Dark Raven sent out a distress call to the other members of the Legion, but nearly had the situation under control before anyone else arrived. Stryker took out one or two of the thugs, and Aviatar took down the last one. It turned out damage to the crowd wasn't as bad as it sounds and the whole team was assembled before the authorities carted off the extremeists. Everyone thought for now the battle was over. We couldn't have been more wrong. The team didn't know we were being observed and when they struck we didn't know what hit us. An incorperal Ghost phased up through the ground and took out a flat-footed Stryker. His claws caused serious wounds to the speedster. Aegis was right beside him a swung wild. Aviatar was pretty much taken out of the fight by Riptide. The winged warrior couldn't get a serious blow in on the fast brawler. Conversely if he changed opponents that would leave two foes on Aegis, so he battled valiantly but too ver little effect. Telik and Trickshot were blinded early on by Wingblade and ruthlessly attacked by him and Carnage. Dark Raven attacked with several powers and some effectiveness when he paralyzed Riptide. He also healed Stryker, but found all attempts at mind control repelled by the members of the Hit Squad. The villians were created by our arch-enemy Fracter. They were designed to deal with the Legion, and they fought well. Telik was overwhelmed by multiple attacks and finally stunned by Wingblades sonic cannon. Before the team could finally get things together, Carnage snatched Trickshot and the whole team was gated away. Probably by Fracter, a challenge to the Legion and an intro to the double-sized issue #12. After the ambush the team was dispirited and angry. The leader had technically missed the whole fight due to being blinded. Aviatar failed to score a serious blow, and Stryker was banged up. Dark Raven couldn't fight the whole team himself, but Aegis might be able to trace their energy signature to their destination. If we're gonna save Trickshot the team has got to get over this loss and deal a blow to Fracter and the Hit Squad. |
|
Issue Twelve:Our issue starts with the Legion arriving back at the Hall of Legionnaires in Norfolk, Virginia. They were just trounced by a team created by the omnipotent Fracter. One of our members, Trickshot was captured by the villian team. The squad assembled in the meeting room includes: Telik, team leader and master of telekinesis. Aviatar, winged champion from another dimension. Stryker, teenage speedster with a high-tech suit. Dark Raven, sorcerer wielding awesome mystical forces. Aegis, a recent addition to the team and our new tech-guy. Telik begins the meeting by apologizing for losing his cool after the Fracterites disappeared with Trickshot. Then the whole team starts thinking of ways to track them and get her back. Trickshot has a communicator, and Aegis should be able to get a location via that. Telik is about to head in to the communications room when a disturbed Mr. Faust shows up. The strangest thing about this encounter with the Legion's benefactor is what he didn't say. Normally he's all about "smile for the cameras", etc. but today he really seems to understand the team is in a bad way and lets Telik take care of business. Mr. Faust seems to have his problems as well, but doesn't let it out. So Aegis and Jenkins work on a location and Telik contacts the Sentinels, a NY based hero team Telik once belonged to. Things are going pretty fast when Fracter appears on TV to challenge the Legion to settle this matter. He's at the Hampton Roads bridge tunnel. Telik scrambles the group together. Just as the Legion scrambles to the Tele-jet, Aegis comes running with a location on Trickshot. She's at an underground location in Chesapeake, probably some kind of base. A quick decision to leave Fracter waiting on us and we instead head straight for Trickshot. As the team lands it only takes a few minutes and some quick calculations to determine her location. |
It happens to be directly under a local mall. Instead of searching for a way in Aegis scratch-builds a digging device and we're boring through the earth to a waiting Trickshot. Before long we're in the complex and one door away from her signal. With a word of confidence Aviatar wrenches the huge door out of the way and the team lights into the waiting Fracterites. Wingblade, Carnage, Cloak, and Riptide had us on the ropes last time, but they had the advantage. They were able to pick their opponents and choose the battleground. This time the Legion knew their powers and basically fired on them with everything we've got. The battle didn't last long, but we had three of the Fracterites down and their leader Wingblade was under the mind bending powers of Dark Raven. Trickshot was saved and the team moved out. We still had to deal with Fracter. The final battle of the issue takes place on a sprawling constuction that seemed to be writhing with life and energy. On the very pinnacle of the building in Fracter. He looks huge and he's been upset we kept him waiting so long. A blast from his hand shatters the Tele-jet and sends the teaming falling. While most of us can fly Telik levitates the others. Fracter goes on a long rambling speech before getting smashed by Aegis. Aviatar joins him in combat and Stryker too. Trickshot all healed up fires a volley of arrows. Dark Raven attacks with his sorcery and Telik fires blast after blast. Fracter himself slowly gets worn down but draws some satisfaction by draining Dark Raven's magic. Aviatar is fatigued, and Telik struggles to toss Fracter into the bay with his telekinesis (remembering Pisces). Everything pretty much came to a head when Aegis rammed Fracter and sent him flying off the construct. Another blow by Aviatar and Fracter gated himself away. Meanwhile the huge machine in pulsing with power. It's gonna blow up. Telik orders everyone away, but Aegis stays. If this machine blows it'll put a huge dent in the city. Aegis has trouble at first but eventually stops the flow of energy. Saving much of the city. The team for the most part avoids the media, it's been a long day and hopefully they'll get some well deserved rest. It's only a thought though, a hero's work is never done. |
