Gloomryng, Long Sword +3
Also known as "Gloombane" and "Mirthbringer", Gloomryng is a Chaos Sword created by Balo the Jester. The weapon is a +3 Long Sword with several special abilities:
1) Dancing Blade: The blade may be commanded to fight on it's own with the base attack bonus of the wielder +3 (no modifiers for Strength, Feats, etc). The power works for a d6 rounds then the blade returns to it's weilder. This power may be used three times per day. Command Word:"Sic 'em!"
2) Cast Otto's Irresistable Dance once per day as a 15th level caster (DC=18). Command Word:"Let's dance!"
3) Cast Stinking Cloud once per day as a 6th level caster (DC=13). Command Word:"Have at you!"
4) After the first use of a special power, the blade will begin to speak, often taunting the weilder or his foes. If sheathed, it sometimes countinues to grumble, but only the wielder is likely to hear it. When unsheathed, it's first words are always: "It's showtime!"

5) The weilder begins to gain weight at the rate of ten pounds per week (I actually used per game session) until he has reached double his original weight. This has no effect on the weilder's ability scores (Balo considers this a gift).
6) There is a 5% cumulative chance with the use of each special power (1-3) that the sword's grim sense of humor will get the best of it and the effect will be turned on the weilder.
7) Due to the unpredictable influence of Chaos, all arcane spells have a 10% chance of failure if the sword is unsheathed. This affects spells that are cast within 30' (including those cast by the weilder). Spells directed at the weilder from more than 30' away are not affected. There is no effect on divine spells. In the event of a failed spell, the sword will quip:"Mmmm, mmmm good!"
Gloomryng is currently in the possession of the Arcturan, Ghul D'Khat.
