Darkest Africa

A combination of Mark Copplestone's excellent Foundry miniatures and Chris Peer's In the Heart of Africa rule set
got me interested in this period. These first three pictures show the intrepid Sir Irving Forbush as he leads his
expedition in search of the lost city of Omeer. Next up for this period is a horde of hostile natives, Ruga-Ruga,
and Zanzibari Slavers. This period may even spawn a battle report or two as I am planning a mini-campaign when
I get all of the units painted, but my Dark Africa game will owe more to Burroughs than Burton so all kinds
of unusual characters may make an appearance.

Wicked Zanzibari slavers and their fierce Ruga Ruga mercenaries.

The great and mighty Chief Mubo Buboo of the He-He Poodo, with his councilor Mustafa, a body guard, his
favorite wife, and the dread witch doctor Whazup.

Warriors of the blackhearted (and black shielded) He-He Poodo and allied (conquered) tribes. Note that nothing
in history suggests that a tribe would carry the same color or even style of shields. The choice was made
purely for identifying units on the wargame table. The war-painted fellows are He-He elite and form the body
guard for the all-powerful widowmaker Chief Mubo Buboo!
