Death Korps of Krieg

Ever since Forge World came out with the Death Korps of Krieg models, I wanted to collect an army. The Imperial
Guard has always been one of my favorite Warhammer 40k armies. My force has been initially based on the
standard Warhammer 40k codex and is modeled on an infantry regiment rather than the siege regiment presented
in the Forge World Imperial Armor book. However, I plan to collect enough models to field the group as either one.

Headquarters

My company command squad is my only HQ unit at present. I have plans (and the models) to add a few heavy weapon
squads for support, but for now this is it. I consider the Commisar a mandatory addition to the squad, for game purposes
and because he looks so damn cool!

Elites

My regular opponents hate weapons with the ability to fire indirectly, so one of my first purchases was a
battery of Forge World Heavy Mortars! Besides the models are amazing. They also give me some much
needed fire support since my HQ still lacks support squads.

The new Ogryn models were too great not to include a unit. However, they didn't quite fit in with the rest of the army.
I used green stuff and scraps from my bits box to sculpt some gas masks and now they look right at home. I
would like to expand the unit to six models because they are almost the only thing in my army with any chance in
close combat.

Troops

Imperial Guard armies are extremely versitile, but most share one thing in common - lots of infantry! I have four
squads and two platoon command squads so I can field the units in various formations. I'd like to add a 20-man
conscript squad in brown stormcoats and another chimera at some point.

Fast Attack

A Forgeworld Hellhound and a squadron of Scylla Light Tanks make up my current Fast Attack choices. The later are some of my favorite
models in the army as they are extensive conversions. They count as Sentinels for game purposes, but I think the character of the models
fits into my force better than the walkers. I found the inspiration and instructions to make these on the GW website and they were among
the first models I completed in my army.

As usual, there are things I want to add and at the top of the list are the insanely cool Forgeworld Deathriders.

Heavy Support

Tanks! My heavy support choices so far are a pair of Leman Russ battle tanks. I have Demolisher kit
stashed away and I love the look of the Forgeworld Destroyer so one of those has got to be in my future as well!

Apocalypse

I've always wanted one of these monsters, but the Forgeworld kits were just a little too much for a model I might get to use once or twice a year
on a game table. When GW came out with the plastic Baneblade, I knew it was time. I wanted to use a differnet color scheme to show that the
super heavy was part of a differnet division and was just on attachment to my force. I very pleased with how this model turned out.
Look how cute the Leman Russ is next to this monster...
